Wrestler's Honor Code
From the Coach
Wrestling
helps with skills to be successful in life. Coach
Long loves the kids and wrestling; he wants to see them be good individuals.
#1. If a
wrestler is going to be out, please have them be responsible and contact him--the best
time to contact him at school is 12:00 to 1:20. His
home phone number is ?
#2. 3 unexcused
absences from practice and they'll leave the wrestling program.
#3. Varsity
wrestlers may have Saturday practices.
#4. Snow days:
practice at 10am if it's safe to travel.
#5. Practice
good hygiene: bathe daily right after practice (this will also reduce the chances of skin
conditions such as ringworm, which has to be treated with prescription medication).
#6. Wrestlers
must travel with the team to events & have to inform Coach Long in writing of how
they're leaving the event if they are not riding the bus back to the school.
#7. Suggested
curfews for wrestlers in training to get adequate sleep: in bed asleep by 10:30 on
week nights, by 12 midnight on Saturday.
#8. Wrestlers
must be within 4 lbs. of their desired weight 2 days before the match....2 lbs. within the
weight the night before the match...weight "bouncing" is unhealthy.
#9. After
earning a starting spot for one of the 14 weights, Coach Long will give the wrestler a
wrestling bag. Uniforms will be handed back in for laundering after matches.
No bags or uniforms to be taken home with wrestlers.
#10. Commit a
crime, possession/use of tobacco, drugs, etc., and a wrestler is off the team.
#11. Please read
nutrition guidelines: wrestling, not weight loss, is the goal. Encourage healthy eating by having the whole family
eat healthy.
