Delayed
Results for Brookville Match
Been
wondering just how to write it up so here what I saw.
This was a great wrestling match, Staunton River has got a great team this year but
Brookville has a mighty good team too. This night belong to Brookville but I believe if
our whole team was healthy it would have been ours.
Staunton River started off the night winning 3 out
of the first 4 matches and having a 16 to 6 lead but Brookville got the next 5 out of 6
taking a 32-22 lead Staunton River got the next 2 matches
to make it 31-32 but Brookville got the last to matches to win 41-31
There were several really good matches this night like Jeremy Tyree after
several questionable calls or should I say not called illegal moves he still won 4-2 and
Scott Fike and Cody Bramlett putting their opponents away quickly with a pin. The best
match of the night was between Will Epperly and Zeb Stewart, Zeb is ranked 2nd
in the state at 125 but on this night Brookville moved him up to 130 to try to keep Will
from getting a win well that did not work not only did Will get the win but he pinned Zeb.
Our next meeting with Brookville is at Districts and
I believe we can beat them but I am sure there will be a tough battle.
I would like to thank everyone that was at the
match, there were more people than at any match I have seen this year and half of them
were ours.

Brookville after dropping their first match to William Byrd in the qualifying

Host team EC Glass ended up in 7th place with a 2-2 record.
And I would like to thank E.C. Glass for inviating us and putting on a great show

A Word of Thanks
I would like to say thank you to a few people
that have helped the Wrestling Team lately
1st I would like to thank Bob and Linda
Gorde of First
Aid Supplies Co.
My wife Nita mention to Mr.
Gorde that her son Montana was on the wrestling team and he volunteered to give them some
Safety Supplies.
Well it turned out to be more than just some
safety supplies it was a complete First Aid Box along with a bag of extra supplies.
So if anyone needs some first aid supplies
for their home or work give Bob or Linda a call 434-239-6587 and show them you appreciate
their support of the Wrestling team
2nd
I would like to thank Mr. Williams (Paul
Williams on the B-Teams dad )
Last week
at River Rumble there was a 50/50 and Mr. Williams was the
winner and he donated his entire winnings back to the Wrestling Boosters so it turns out
the team was the big winner.
So Thanks again Mr. Williams that was a nice thing to do.
3rd
I dont know all their names but I would like to thank everyone that helped with the
(River Rumble) Tournament last weekend.
Because of all your help the tournament was a great success and
everything ran smoothly THANKS !!!

The River Has Rumbled
The Tournament was set up in two Pools (A and B) Pool-A was Staunton River, E. C. Glass,
Radford, James River and Staunton River was the winner of Pool-A beating the other 3
school. Pool-B Schools were Hidden Valley, Patrick Henry, James River, Heritage
and Salem where Hidden Valley was the winner of that pool going 3 and 0. The Match for the
Championship was set with Staunton River wrestling Hidden Valley and Staunton River won
this match easily 57-24. EC
Glass got third beating Salem 40-32
There
were several highlights in the tournament; Staunton River had seven wrestlers go
undefeated for the day they were Cody Bramlett, Travis Claytor,
Will Epperly, Jeremy Tyree, Nick Manley, Tony Boughton, Scott Fike and Dustin Kidd with
Nick Manley getting all four of his wins with Pins. I would have to say that the best
match of the day was when Will Epperly (Ranked #2 in the AA State this year) took on
Radfords Tanner Stuphin (Last years A State Champion) with Will Epperly winning 5-2.
There was also a good match at heavy weight against EC Glass where Teddy Childress who is
new to the team this year showed that he has come a long way, he did not win this match
but he fought hard into the third period leading by points (Against an opponent that had
him by 75 pounds or more) before the weight difference got to him and he got pined.
There were three awards for outstanding wrestler and Staunton River won two of
them. In the light weight class Will Epperly won and in the middle weight class Jeremy
Tyree was the winner. In the heavier weight class James Rivers Anthony Garrison took the
honor.
Coach Long got several of his back up Wrestlers involved this week either in the
Tournament or in preliminary matches. Micheal Franklin got 2 wins and Austin Adams got 2
wins in the tournament also Tyler Pagan got a pin in :45 seconds in a preliminary match.
The team has 2 weeks
off before their next tournament at EC Glass on 1/5/07. Hope to see everyone there!!!
Check out the Tournament and
Results page for all the scores.

Just got this E-Mail
THE B-TEAM DID AN AWSOME JOB
AGAINST BOTH TEAMS .SRMS WALKED ALL OVER LIBERTY, DEFEATING THEM VERY EASILY. GLENVAR GAVE
US A LITTLE MORE TROUBLE, BUT WE STILL OVERPOWERED AND OUTMATCHED THEM IN ALMOST EVERY
WEIGHT CLASS. THE TEAM IS CONTINUING TO LEARN MORE AND MORE, AND ARE DEFINITELY A FORCE TO
BE RECKONED WITH!! STATES ARE LOOKING REAL GOOD.
Final Score - SRMS 99 Liberty
3
SRMS 84 Glenvar 24

Third Place
at Titan Toughman Tournament
The tournament was at Hidden Valley High
School and it was a good one. It ran well
(even though the threat of an ice storm hurried the tournament up) and we would like to
thank Hidden Valley for inviting us. There
were 16 teams from central and southwest Virginia.
There was Northside, Lord
Botetourt, Blacksburg, Staunton River, Covington, Jefferson Forest, E.C. Glass, Radford, Cave
Spring, Hidden Valley, Patrick County, Patrick Henry, Virginia High, Salem, Alleghany and Roanoke
Catholic.
We did well taking 3rd
place overall and individually we had a 1st, Four 2nd, one 4th and one 5th place finishers; also
several other wrestlers finished just out of the top five.
We did not have our
full squad this weekend with 2 of our wrestlers out, one did not make weight the other did
not make practice (The Coach can be tough). There were several highlights over the
weekend. Having 5 Wrestlers make it to the finals this shows we are a team is one to be
reckoned with. Jeremy Tyree put on a show for us winning 4 straight matches, two of them
were right tough and came home in 1st place. We had 4 wrestlers get 2nd
(Cody Bramlett, Will Epperly, Nick Manley and Tony Boughton) everyone of them wrestling
tough to the end.
The
courage award goes to Austin Carr this week he has had a bad ankle the past few weeks and
hurt it again this weekend but keep wrestling on his last match his opponent knew of his ankle and took advantage of it, twisting
it numerous time and was penalized by the referrer for it but Austin fought till the end
only losing by 1 point.
Coach
Long got his backup wrestlers involved again this weekend with 3 wrestlers seeing mat time
and 2 of the getting wins Montana Large and Brandon Langdon
Next
week we are at home for the River Rumble Hope to see everyone there

strongest programs in the State.
Wanted to let you
Know the scores of our matches last night. SRMS 49 Christiansburg 42 (thats right it
is not a mistake we beat them), SRMS 59 Radford 12. Let me tell you they (CMS) are good
sports, kids or coaches. One of the best matches of the night was William Osborne (75 lbs)
he bet Jacob , you know Pauls kid, And let me tell you after we beat them sugar would not
melt in Pauls mouth. Well I have to go talk to you later.

Parkland
Duals Results 12/8/07
For
complete results see Schedule and Results Page
Let me start by saying thanks to Parkland High School in North Carolina they had 14
Varsity and 12 JV teams wrestling and they did a great job keeping it all running.
This was a great tournament for our wrestlers
going up against the best that North Carolina has and they did well, winning two matches
before coming up against the NC 3A State champs everyone wrestled well against them but
they are a very strong team and were only scored on a couple of times during the day. Then
we had two more tough matches with Butler and the 2A state Champs McMichael
Going up against competition like this is
great for the team, it shows them where they are and how far they need to go to be at the
top.
Each week I try to single out one or two team
members who try a little harder or set a good example for the rest of the team I am going
to do the same this week but with a different member of the team. This week it is was
Coach Long that stood out above everyone at the match,
To start with Coach Long took every wrestler
on the team that had been coming to practice so they could get the experience of a big
match and made sure that everyone was wrestling either on the Varsity or JV side. He was at the mat for every single match for the
Varsity team but as soon as it was over he went from team to team finding extra matches
for the member of our team that are not starters getting them all the experience he could.
So Coach Long my hats off to you, Job well
done
Next week we are at the
Titan Tough Man Tournament at Hidden Valley High School where we finished 4th
among 16 strong teams and I expect we will do better this year.
So lets fill the stands
next week! I will guarantee you will have a
great time and the boys can use your support.

Just got the results from the
B-Team match they had Wednesday against Dunbar and Liberty and it looks like all the hard
work and drills that Coach Maddox has been putting the team through is paying off.
They beat Dunbar 88-18 and beat Liberty 87-9 way to go Team
There next match is Monday against Christiansburg and
Radford at Christiansburg middle school
so everyone lets get out there and support the team

Well is every one ready for the big tournament this
weekend at Parkland High School in Winston Salem NC. This should be a great experience for
the team going up against some of the best wrestlers in North Carolina including their
state champions from last year.
For the Directions to Parkland High School click here and for the Hotel to stay at is Holiday
Inn 2520 Peters Creek Pkwy Winston Salem NC 27127 (336-788-1980) it is only one mile

Click here for directions from Parkland High school to the Hotel
Good luck to all the wrestlers and see you there.

your paper.
Frank

We had a good Quad
match to start the season and we would like to thank William Byrd for inviting us and
putting on a great run match.
The Boys wrestled well in all three matches with the Blacksburg and William Byrd
matches coming down to one match making the difference just wasnt in our favor. But
I am sure the coach will have a few things to work on with them Monday.
If you were there you got to see our guys go 100% and beyond. Like Will Epperly
toying with his opponent nearly getting a technical falls on them before going ahead and
pinning them and Jeremy Tyree getting a technical fall in a 1 1/2 minutes, now that is
scoring points quick. We had 3 wrestlers win all of their matches they were Travis
Claytor, Will Epperly and Jeremy Tyree. The wrestler that most impressed me was Andrew
Joseph he went two for three with two pins for wins and a hard fought 7-13 lost where he
never gave up and hustled for the full six minutes giving 110%
So Andrew you get voted Wrestler of the Week
(But I am the only one voting:)
To see the complete rundown
of all the matches check the (Tournament Schedule and results page)
The results of the other matches were
(William Byrd 54-Salem 21) (William Byrd 34-Blacksburg 41) (Blacksburg 54-Salem 30)
Next week we are heading to the
Parkland Duals in Winston Salem NC to face eight tough North Carolina teams and Their
State Champs. Hope to see everyone at the match next week
Frank

A Big Thank You to Ron Long, John Maddox, Albert Epperly, Ron
Tyree and his friend for giving up their Saturday to paint the new room. Hopefully
this will allow the county to complete their work so SRHS can hold practice in it on
November 12th. JOB WELL DONE!
Due to the fact that school is
closed on November 6 (Election Day) - Chuck Roselund and David Carr have asked that I
inform you we will be meeting WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7. Sorry for any inconvience this
may have caused but we believe we will have better attend on the 7th. Please help to
get the word out.
Arrangements have been made
for water to be at the new building. If all goes well (we'll know Friday) it will be
there by the first practice. Still need to visit with school and merryman about
moving storage unit. I'm sure some spare time will pop up in the next 24 hours to
get that done.
Thanks in advance Susan
A majority of the Wrestling
booster board has voted to approve the following purchases:
Varsity - both white and black singlets to replace those which were lost or damaged
so there will be two complete sets and shorts for warm-ups. Also additional mat
cleaner and mop heads have been ordered.
B-team - purchase the following so there will be a complete set of uniforms
for the starting B-team: 4 - women's singlets @ 31.75 each, 24 men's singlets @
31.75 each, 40 pairs of shorts (work with Caoch Long so we can get them all together
through the school), 20 headgear @ 13.50 and 4 skullcaps @ 19.50. This should be a
total (with shipping) of $1600.
After talking with Rick Falls, AD and the bookkeeper at SRHS, you need to get a PO
through the school and the Boosters' will tranfer funds from the Golden Eagle Booster
account (bingo funds) to SRHS to cover the invoices. Anything not listed above
has not been approved for payment by the Wrestling Boosters.
Hopefully we will have a successful rec tournament on Nov 30 and will have
additional funds to assist both teams.
Susan
